DO NOT CLICK IN THE YELLOW BOX?
Why Not?
After years of lobbying by the Kansas Coalition for Autism, the Kansas House recently passed a bill mandating insurance companies recognize autism as a disorder. KMBC's Dion Lim reported the measure could help hundreds of parents in the Kansas City area. Twins Gavin and Josh Cooper do what most 4-year-olds do, but what is going on inside their heads is a different world. "Basically, it's a developmental issue; you learn at a different pace," said Melissa Cooper. Diagnosed with autism, the boys have a lifetime of medical treatments ahead. Doctors visits will cost more than $3 million for each boy, Lim reported. "We had to take money out of our retirement fund. We cashed it out to help them get private therapy," Cooper said. Insurance doesn't cover a penny. But the bill passed in the Kansas House now goes to the Senate. "We need support. Contact your district's senator. We need the people of Kansas to help vote for this, please," Cooper said. Cooper said she is hopeful that other moms like her can get the care they need for their autistic children.
This clip from Imus came shortly after moms and dads of affected children flooded him with complaints. Parents of vaccine-injured/autistic children discovered that Autism Speaks founders Bob and Suzanne Wright, the United States Senate, assorted drug lobbyists, and the large, drug company funded non-profit organizations had pulled a bait and switch on them. Parents of mercury-affected children were told that this new bill called the Combating Autism Act would be a billion dollar's worth of federal aid to help families, which, of course, was false. Parents have to pay for everything. Life rains on both the rich and the poor, but we all know as long as the NPO racket is allowed to interdict aid like Somali warlords, the victims never get the help they need. "Save some for the Victims" they shout with a smile. As stinging as that is, the most critical lie the NPO sharks told to moms and dads was Autistic children would have the necessary funding for Thimerosal and vaccine research needed to help their children. This is important because the best parents can do to aid their children are basically non-curative things. Celebrities were paraded in. Many known candidly for representing their charities disclosed how their child became Autistic as a result of Thimerosal exposure. Even members of the moving and shaking "anti-mercury" groups were invited to view the bill and work on it. OR so they told parents. When something went wrong isn't exactly clear. It appears this was ...

Bernard Rimland hosts the introduction of a few of the children who have made huge improvements and recoveries in the Autism Spectrum. Autism IS Treatable!!! Bernard Rimland, Ph.D. is the director of the Autism Research Institute (ARI) in San Diego, which he founded in 1967, and the founder of the Autism Society of America, which he founded in 1965. He is also the co-founder of the Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) Project, which is sponsored by ARI. Dr. Rimland is the author of the prize-winning book, Infantile Autism: The Syndrome and Its Implications for a Neural Theory of Behavior, which is credited with debunking the "mother-blaming theories of autism prevalent in the 20th century. He is also the father of an autistic adult. His website is: www.autismresearchinstitute.com
technologyzac Web Browser Aims to Focus Autistic kidszac Web Browser Aims to Focus Autistic kidsthe Associated pressthe Zac Browser is an Web application that helps autistic kids focus their attention and limits their exposure and interaction with inappropriate content (June 3)For autistic children, simply concentrating on one situation can be a challenge. Dealing with the multitude of sights and sounds produced by a computer can be even more difficult. Software designer John lesieur recognized those frustrations while watching his 6-year old grandson, Zackary try and navigate the Web. lesieur knew he could help. So he had his company, People CD Inc. design the Zac Browser, an interface geared specifically towards autistic children. The Zac Browser greatly simplifies the Web. It seals off most adult-oriented sites and presents a hand-picked slate of choices from free, public Web sites. While other programs offer a "walled garden" approach to the Web, lesieur's browser aims to go further: It essentially takes over the computer and reduces the controls available. And for children like Zackary, setting those limits and narrowing the focus could help open up a world of possibilities. The Zac Browser can be downloaded or run directly from www dot zacbrowser dot com. ___ ___, The Associated Press.(****END****)

1) What has your child been diagnosed with, if he/she has been diagnosed at all?
2) Before vaccinations, did your child exhibit signs of
neurotypical children (e.g. played with other children, talked
coherently, etc.)?
a. If yes, what were the observations you made (e.g. what did your child do that was neurotypical)?
3) Have you given your child any vaccines?
a. If yes, what vaccines has your child been given (if known, did
these vaccines have thimerosal in them)? Try to list all vaccines.
b. If yes, when were they given (give child's age)?
4) When did you start realizing that your child was not
neurotypical (give child's age) or did someone else tell you
(teacher, friend, spouse, etc,) with his or her suspicions?
5) What symptoms did you see that made you sense that your child was not neurotypical?
6) Is there any information (about anything, autism, your child)
that you might want me to include in my study?
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!
I hear all the time about mothers that think their child is bipolar or has add or adhd or autism.
It's good to watch for warning signs, but isn't it getting out of hand?
Whatever happened to just being glad your child was happy and healthy? When did everyone decide that acting like a child meant they have some kind of disorder?
Should Hearing Kids Be Allowed To Go To School For The Deaf And Live In The Dorm With The Deaf Kids?
I think it would depend on the Situation, if a hearing kid is a CODA, the deaf parents don’t feel comfortable about sending the kids to hearing school than maybe they can send the hearing kids to the deaf school. if a hearing kid wanted to get deeper with deaf world and learn more about deaf people because they had a plan that major in helping other deaf people like an interpreter or a teacher for deaf kids in the future, than maybe. but the deaf schools should mostly be reserved for deaf kids. also kids with autism who mostly uses sign language for speaking, maybe could go to a deaf school but it would depend though.
actually benefit/showed improvement from the use of dietary plans/supplements?
There has been quite a bit in the media about the use of gluten/dairy free diets, viatmin therapies and other non-tradional treatments as a way to minimize, and in some cases, even remove, the outward signs of autism. As a parent of an autistic child, I know far more families that these plans have proven ineffective than ones that produced the results that have been talked about on shows like Oprah and Larry King. While I am thrilled for families who have been helped, I wondered if any reports had been released that showed the percentage of children that were helped. An article in People some months back had a comment from a specialist at Kennedy Kriegar stating these treatments were effective in less than 10% of the kids on the spectrum. Has anyone read the research behind this statement? And, if you have tried the diet, did it help or not, did you stay with it, how did it affect your family overall? Thanks...

His revolutionary Brain Balance- program has ach (more...)
I just saw a video of a supposedly autistic boy who saved his teacher's life by doing the heimlich maneuver. He was talkative and is a boy scout. My best friend when I was growing up had a sister with autism, and she could barely communicate. She would have frequent tantrums, had to go to a special school, and only talked sporadically through sign language. Now it seems like any kid with any kind of odd behavior or who doesn't quite fit in gets diagnosed with autism. This kid twitched a little but otherwise was fine. I was shy when I was a kid and I still stammer sometimes. Does that make me autistic? What about all the other socially awkward kids I hung out with?

I have been trying to find something on it on google and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm wanting to know, what are the odds or probability of siblings (brothers) having autism? I'm speaking on behaf of my two nephews, the oldest has been diagnosed with a moderate case of autism and the youngest is having signs of it. If you know of any websites that has anything I'd really appreciate it. Any kind of info will be helpful. Thanks!

I mean everytime I turn around a new kid suppossedly has some degree of autism but yet they can do everything a normal kid can do, except they specialize in throwing a little tantrum if they dont get their way. I heard a respected doctor say on NPR that most kids diagnosed with autism are but a bunch of brats who have no respect for anything. Does anyone agree?
My daughter and her family will be living on base sometime in 2008 (don't know which one yet), and they have a 5 year old boy with autism. How much care does the army provide for a special needs child? I know it will vary bases to base, but what is the overall concern and resources allowed and used in this situation? Any one been there?
I have read multiple lists of first signs online, as well as studies on some of these, such as the Teitelbaums' movement analysis, answering to name at one year, and toy manipulation at one year.
I would, however, very much appreciate the experiences of parents and the signs they noticed first in their child, and at approximately what age.
Thank you very much! (I am a worried mom)
Not that I don't appreciate it, but where have you been for the last eight years? And does anyone know where Sarah Palin's newfound expertise in autism comes from? Down Syndrome and autism are apples and oranges, and I can promise you, Sarah Palin is never going to have to fight for services for her child.
