Bryton was unofficially diagnosed with Autism at 15 months; but we were told to prepare ourselves. He was re-evaluated and officially diagnosed at 18months. Here he is almost 3yrs old and after many hours of early intervention (currently about 30hrs/week) he is doing great. In this video, we are doing a Light RUN. Bryton is in love with lights!!!! Stimming is one of the symptoms listed for autism. Quick INFO: Stimming is a repetitive body movement that self-stimulates one or more senses in a regulated manner. Some common examples indulged by children affected with autism are: SenseStimming Actions Visual: Flapping hands, blinking and / or moving fingers in front of eyes; staring repetitively at a light Auditory: Making vocal sounds; snapping fingers Tactile: Scratching; rubbing the skin with one's hands or with an external object Vestibular: Moving body in rhythmic motion; rocking front and back or side-to-side Taste: Licking body parts; licking an object Smell: Smelling objects or hands; other people If Bryton is having a SUPER STRESSFUL DAY, and other techniques dont seem to work, Ill treat him to a Light Run. We go to Home Depot and walk their entire lighting department. Its about 4 isles and from start to finish equals 1 complete cycle for us. So I describe it to Bryton as "Ok, we will do 3 cycles then we have to shop." I make sure we do some shopping afterwards. I dont want him to get "stuck" and think Home Depot is only for "Bryton and his lights". I want him to ...
Government is corrupt and they are controlling our lives in all democratic countries. Completely. We have lost our liberty. Some, people, do not even vote. How do you make sense of who is telling you what? They are controlling, you, and it is much worse then when the black people were brought over to america for slavery. Why? Because back then, you were enslaved to hard work. You were chained up. You were not allowed to read and write. They crippled you, or took your life. You could do nothing to help yourself. But you visually, could see this. You could see them, doing this to you. Today, the fraud, the deception, is so intense, so very intense, that there is a complete culture, to make sure that the public, the masses, 80 percent of us, does not know what is being done to us. And they are getting stronger. Mr Bush says, you have freedom for your families, you have your liberty. The truth could not be further from the reality. Mr Bush says, to protect your liberty, and because of Airlines, 911, we have declared war on Iraq. The government is corrupt. But, you knew this. What you do not know, is that the medical system, is the protector or battle ax, above the law, for the Government and for the Corporate Stronghold. People, that are important, to the middle and lower classes, suddenly have an accident, and die. I believe, medical system, is not telling you the truth, about chemical, waste, and infection. Possibly, the autistic, children are these victims. The thalidomide ...

I made a movie about my little brother with autism to spread awareness about the disorder. I love my brother and everything about him, and I have never thought anything was "wrong" with him. However, I do not think my brother was born with autism and much of the blame to his disorder (not disease) is from harmful chemicals in vaccines. I think that all autistic children are loving and brilliant like my little brother, but I hope that we can find a way to prevent the disorder for future children and families. Bailey Hedequist
I have 3 lovely kids, Kira 5, Dominic 3 and Codey 8 months. My son is moderately autistic and recently we have seen similar signs in our baby girl. Seeing signs of autism in such a young child is something very new to me, not to mention worrying. Dominic developed wonderfully up until the age of 2 before his developement levelled off then regressed to the age of around 18 months to 2 years where it currently remains; this was also when he began to show his autistic behaviours. I find myself wondering if Codey showing similar signs so early, will have an impact on her developement too - she has recently lost the ability to sit up and instead rocks, throwing herself back and forth when we hold her up. She has also become much less responsive to her name, has stopped babbling and is markedly harder to amuse. I'd also like to take the opportunity to apologise to PhilCommander2, I should have given more thought to this matter before trying to explain your accounts of seeing signs of autism in your son when he was a baby. It was foolish of me and I truly am sorry. Now that I see the signs in my own baby, I can clearly see that showing signs of autism at such a young age is completely plausible. (Please note that I have my arm around Codey with my hand on her tummy which I am providing a good amount of resistance with. Also, she looks at me just once or twice, most of the video she is looking at the camera which is at least a foot away from my face)

Mother takes us for a short ride into the crazy system serving severely autistic children and adults with challenging behaviors. Gives a glimpse of the neglect, cover ups and apathy of some of our top government officials, such as Patricia Del Monico, executive director of Harbor Regional Center. Mother repeatedly warned officials that her self-injurious autistic son needed more help. Over and over, she wrote letters, faxed and requested meetings. Nobody listened. Then when her son got hurt in group home, these agencies worked quickly and quietly to cover their ass. Didn't care the autistic teen was injured. So mom ends up pulling her son from the group home. Then starts fighting again for in home services. Keep in mind, first, for many years previous to all this, she fought for services to prevent child from being placed outside home. State never gave enough help and the help that came was an unbelievable joke. So, family saddled with this burden to help their very complex child, decides to place son for awhile and he goes into this group home that state promises is going to help. Once inside group home he never gets the help the great state promises he'd get, so he gets injured and mom takes him back home where she then has to fight again, goes before a judge and--finally, gets in home nursing...but that's another story...all in all, this is a classic story showing how insane our American run system can be and how too many ineffective folks work in US government. sean ...

Becky Kuhn, MD, describes the symptoms of AIDS. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the symptoms include: * "rapid weight loss" * "dry cough" * "recurring fever or profuse night sweats" * "profound and unexplained fatigue" * "swollen lymph glands in the armpits, groin, or neck" * "diarrhea that lasts for more than a week" * "white spots or unusual blemishes on the tongue, in the mouth, or in the throat" * "pneumonia" * "red, brown, pink, or purplish blotches on or under the skin or inside the mouth, nose, or eyelids" * "memory loss, depression, and other neurological disorders" If you have one or more of these symptoms, does it necessarily mean you are infected with HIV or have developed AIDS? No. Many common diseases can cause one or more of these symptoms. For example, most people with a fever or sore throat are probably just experiencing common illnesses such as the cold, influenza, or mononucleosis. A person is only diagnosed if they are confirmed HIV+ and also either have a CD4 count under 200 or have an opportunistic infection that is indicative of a weakened immune system. So don't panic. But if you have any of these symptoms and think theres even the slightest chance you might ever have been exposed to HIV, you should see a doctor and ask to be tested for HIV. Remember, the CDC recommends that all adults be tested for HIV regardless of whether they believe they have any risk factors or exposure to HIV and regardless of ...
The public knows dementia as a disease of memory loss, characterized by forgetfulness, an inability to keep track of personal possessions, a loss of navigational skills. This is the case in Alzheimer's disease, but in frontotemporal dementia the early signs generally involve behavioral and emotional changes. As a result, caregivers some times don't know to consult a neurologist. They seek guidance from church leaders, family practice doctors, counselors or therapists. memory.ucsf.edu UCSF Memory and Aging Center .

April 4, 2008 Today we found out Josyah could spell a few words. The last couple of days we heard him randomly spell baby then today we heard him spell boy. We figured out he was learning this new info from watching one of his baby Einstein videos. So I thought I would practice the words with him to see if he could spell the identify the words without the video. So as you can see in the clip I wrote out the letters to make each word as he repeated each letter as I wrote it I then said spells and he would give me the correct word. He seems to know them pretty good but we plan on practicing these same words with him just to be sure. Today was a very good day for us. I would like to move forward with his spelling now that we see what he can do but will need to get some advise about how to do that. I have heard how its not a good idea to let autistic children watch to much tv or any child for that matter but I can only say for our son watching his movies which he does a lot of, has helped with his speech.

Relaxing Music and Video by J Michele Bodine Moments of Peace Video Series Song, Endless Paths of Light Album, Heaven Tuching Earth Music and Video made on Maui, Hawaii Produced and Directed by MIBehleem www.starlightharmonymusic.com Beautiful and inspiring ambient music can help create inner peace. It can support personal growth, healing and alleviate pain, stress, anxiety, fears and insomnia. Since 1980, I have been channeling keyboard music. Through the years I have tuned into individuals, groups of people, those in transition, events, lyrics, video productions, and have brought through melodies that have had powerful effects. My music has inspired artists and writers, increasing their creativity. Psychotherapists, Reiki and massage therapists find that is takes their work to deeper levels. I have discovered that autistic children are able to interact with these melodies. The passages of this new age music supports deep relaxation, and if used during meditation, it can take one on a spiritual journey. Hospitals and clinics are using my music to comfort patients undergoing medical procedures. Words are inadequate to describe the experiences my music offers. You must listen to it, allowing the notes to enfold you in their embrace. As background music, the effects are subtle. Intentional listening to this music with no outside interruptions, creates the most desirable effects. This is a 10 minute clip from a 60 minute video. There is no voice over narration in the Serendipity videos, just the sounds of nature and gentle music. The DVD's are being used in long term care and hospital wards for relaxation therapy and dementia and reminiscence therapy. Parents and professionals working with autistic children are also finding them to be a useful tool. "Secret Garden Serendipity" is a visual treat and the DVD's make great gifts for the gardener in the family. This 60 minute video takes the viewer through the Spring and Summer season in the garden. Shot in the southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia the program features the different looks of a stunning flower garden: from the early crocuses and tulips to the roses and cosmos (to name a few) later on. Of course every gardener loves to bird watch and there are plenty of great shots of the birds and the deer that visit these gardens. To view the entire program look for it at your local library, if it's not there ask your librarian to bring it in. Check out my channel for other videos. Influenza (commonly called the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. The information below describes common flu symptoms, how to protect yourself and those close to you from getting the flu, and what to do if you get sick with flu-like symptoms. This is how Unfortunately masks purchased at drugstores will not keep out the nano particles, but using them is better than doing nothing. Try to keep yourself as healthy as possible, do not use aspartame, NutraSweet, toothpaste with fluoride, Be Aware of Common Flu Symptoms Influenza usually starts suddenly and may include the following symptoms: •Fever (usually high) •Headache •Tiredness (can be extreme) •Cough •Sore throat •Runny or stuffy nose •Body aches •Diarrhea and vomiting (more common among children than adults) Having these symptoms does not always mean that you have the flu. Many different illnesses, including the common cold, can have similar symptoms. Know How the Flu Spreads The flu usually spreads from person to person in respiratory droplets when people who are infected cough or sneeze. People occasionally may become infected by touching something with influenza virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes. Healthy adults may be able to infect others 1 day before getting symptoms and up to 5 days after getting sick. Therefore, it is possible to give someone the flu before you know you are sick as well as while you are sick. Best way to protect your self is not worry first ...
September 8, 2008 - BGC Partners Inc., a major inter-dealer broker named for B. Gerald Cantor, the founder of Cantor Fitzgerald (from which BGC Partners separated in 2004), has selected QSAC as one of a dozen New York-based nonprofit organizations to benefit from its annual Charity Day on September 11, 2008. We were very impressed by the work carried out by QSAC in supporting the autism community in New York and Long Island. By raising the profile of autism and providing comprehensive support and services to autistic children and their families, QSAC is making a very positive difference to the lives of many. We welcome them to our Charity Day knowing that the funds raised will be used efficiently and effectively to continue their prize-winning work, said Daniel M. LaVecchia, Executive Managing Director for the Americas at BGC. On Charity Day, celebrities representing the charities help raise funds by assisting professional brokers with trades of financial products to BGC's institutional clients. I have made a "Social Story" movie for our two autistic sons to explain an upcoming move. Autistic children are typically visual learners, and such simple stories make sure that they understand what is going on. These slides are in line with my sons' learning style - but other things might work for other autistic children/visual learners.
A video I made for a class I'm in, "Art Through The Ages." This video is about Art and Music Therapy for children, teens, and adults with Autism. I used Adobe to change the pictures into sketches, Crosshatch paintings, paintings using angled strokes, oil pastel paintings, and old paper photographs. The music used is Bette Midler's, "God Help The Outcasts." I help teach younger autistic children and a few have told me they feel they "don't belong."
It is possible to connect to an autistic child and make the learning environment productive, fun and exciting. The first step is that you need to actually enjoy teaching autistic children. This may seem self evident, but its been my experience that most educators don't really like working with the autistic population. Autistic children are very clever in picking up subtle signs from people.

When Ellen Xi Yang arrived in Toronto in 2003, her strength of character, resourcefulness and courage enabled her to overcome three significant barriers to settling in Canada: learning a new language, adapting to a new school, and integrating into Canadian culture. The difficult first step was speaking English -- a language very different from the Mandarin she had spoken for 13 years - with fluency and confidence. Although often made fun of when she mispronounced words, she wasn't silenced by the teasing. Believing that "practice makes perfect," she worked hard to speak frequently and accurately. Within the first month of her arrival in Canada, she achieved an A+ average in all aspects of the ESL program and was therefore switched to a regular class. At Riverdale Collegiate Institute, Ellen has earned Certificates of Merit (above 90 percent average) and Certificates of Achievement (top five students) from Grade 9 to Grade 11. Last year she also received six academic awards for earning the highest marks in Biology, Physics, Art, Psychology/Sociology/Anthropology, Mathematics, and Accounting, for a total of 12 academic honours over her first three years of high school. For three consecutive years, she has received the University of Waterloo's Certificate of Distinction in the Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat Math Contest. Behind those achievements, there are late nights of studying and weekends of exploring beyond the textbook. Ellen's goal is to become a cardiovascular surgeon ...
After years of lobbying by the Kansas Coalition for Autism, the Kansas House recently passed a bill mandating insurance companies recognize autism as a disorder. KMBC's Dion Lim reported the measure could help hundreds of parents in the Kansas City area. Twins Gavin and Josh Cooper do what most 4-year-olds do, but what is going on inside their heads is a different world. "Basically, it's a developmental issue; you learn at a different pace," said Melissa Cooper. Diagnosed with autism, the boys have a lifetime of medical treatments ahead. Doctors visits will cost more than $3 million for each boy, Lim reported. "We had to take money out of our retirement fund. We cashed it out to help them get private therapy," Cooper said. Insurance doesn't cover a penny. But the bill passed in the Kansas House now goes to the Senate. "We need support. Contact your district's senator. We need the people of Kansas to help vote for this, please," Cooper said. Cooper said she is hopeful that other moms like her can get the care they need for their autistic children.
This clip from Imus came shortly after moms and dads of affected children flooded him with complaints. Parents of vaccine-injured/autistic children discovered that Autism Speaks founders Bob and Suzanne Wright, the United States Senate, assorted drug lobbyists, and the large, drug company funded non-profit organizations had pulled a bait and switch on them. Parents of mercury-affected children were told that this new bill called the Combating Autism Act would be a billion dollar's worth of federal aid to help families, which, of course, was false. Parents have to pay for everything. Life rains on both the rich and the poor, but we all know as long as the NPO racket is allowed to interdict aid like Somali warlords, the victims never get the help they need. "Save some for the Victims" they shout with a smile. As stinging as that is, the most critical lie the NPO sharks told to moms and dads was Autistic children would have the necessary funding for Thimerosal and vaccine research needed to help their children. This is important because the best parents can do to aid their children are basically non-curative things. Celebrities were paraded in. Many known candidly for representing their charities disclosed how their child became Autistic as a result of Thimerosal exposure. Even members of the moving and shaking "anti-mercury" groups were invited to view the bill and work on it. OR so they told parents. When something went wrong isn't exactly clear. It appears this was ...
