My 3wk old seems to be mesmerized by lights. Not really specially lights or anything, just lights in general. Pretty much since birth he's been interested in lights. He'll see a light and gaze at it for long moments. He's progressing in the head movement and control and he's able to look up at lights. I'm wondering if this is normal, dangerous to his eyes, or even an early sign of autism. I'm not trying to over-react, but I'm a first time Mother who never hung around babies... does anyone have advice?
All babies love to look at the lights. It is 100% normal for babies to be attracted to lights. As far as it hurting his eye, I really don’t think that is a problem either. So just enjoy baby and have fun with him or her. Congratulation on the little one!
It is normal for children to love the lights and movements of them. That is why babies stare at the tv because the light and movements that is 100% normal. They make mobiles for the crib that have lights on it because babies love it so much.
Babies love to look at lights. Its totally normal, and if it is too bright he’ll automatically close his eyes, like if he is out in the sun or something. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
The vision of a 3 week old is still pretty fuzzy. I imagin that the lights are something interesting for him. My son did it too! At about a month, when he got better control of his head, he looked at the ceiling all of the time. Who knows??
I have 3 boys and they all did this. Light is a great thing so many different colors of it. I wouldn’t worry its normal. Congrats on being a new mom it does get easier you just can’t worry to much. Good luck.
u have to remember they’re eyesight is still blurry, the lights are probably the clearest things he can see, not to mention the fact that most humans like lights….christmas lights, disco lights, strobe lights
My son is now 2 years old. And from birth did the same thing as your baby. It’s totally normal. My son does not have autism, nor any sign of autism. They are just fascinated by sights they have never seen before. Normal!
Completely normal!! Lot’s of babies like lights. It just catches their attention at this age.
i think he might just find lights interesting.
