Well environmental pollution and skitzophrenia has also trippled maybe it’s those hybrid honda vehicles that cause autism, I think.

No. Autism has nothing to do with immunizations. The increase is due to people finally understanding the disease and diagnosing it. Just as many people had it 50 years ago, they just didn’t know what it was.

Most studies have found that autism is caused by a mutation in a gene. Why this mutation occurs is still not known, but it has something also to do with serotonin levels as well. No. There is no proof that vaccines cause autism. They may very well cause other problems, not necessarily autism. The person who originally brought this up later retracted his statement. My son has and will recieve all of the recommended vaccines. There is a chance he may have a reaction to the vaccines. If he gets one of the diseases that the vaccines are meant to prevent, however, he will die. Vaccines are made for a reason.

No, I think it’s a combination of genetics and environmental factors. Studies have shown that there is no link at all between vaccines and autism.
Remember that while children do get more vaccines than they used to, the actual AMOUNT that’s in the vaccines is much smaller, so they’re actually receiving less than they used to.

I think that you watched The Doctors today.
I think that the increase of autism is because the DSM has changed the definition of diagnosis to include more children, for example some speech impairments are now included on the spectrum.
Do you think that an increase in ice cream sales causes crime? Or do you think that both just increase during the summer. Correlation does not equal causation

I don’t think that the vaccines have anything to do with autism. there just is not enough evidence to prove it.
I do wonder however, if it has something to do with all the added hormones and artificial chemicals we put into our bodies and our children’s bodies. milk is loaded with hormones and that is what most toddlers drink during the day. Also, the meats we eat are injected with the hormoes also. this results in the ability produce more so that it more cost efficient for the farmers. I’m not saying to only eat organic foods and all of that mess, I am just saying that it is something that we are doing differently now than back then. it could be a possibility.
Maybe the gene that has been thought to maybe make a child susceptible to autism is triggered and activated by these growth hormones and artificial chemicals we are putting into our food and then eating it.

I don’t think it is immunizations. First, the studies that linked shots to autism have been debunked. Even so, the study that linked the two blamed the autism on a mercury preservative, thimiserol (sp?) which hasn’t been used in vaccines in years.
I do believe the number of kids with autism continues to climb because more children are being diagnosed as autistic or on the autism spectrum. This is good and bad, as I believe more children are being correctly diagnosed and getting the help they need, while some are being misdiagnosed. For instance, my nephew had a speech delay and an early intervention person tried to label him as autistic because his parents answered yes to like 10 of 300 questions. Now at age 6, he has a huge vocabulary and is very social and friendly.
Also, unfortunatley there appears to be a genetic component because parents with one autistic child is more likely to have another.
Its a heartbreaking condition, but based on all the knowledge out there, I have chosen to vaccinate my child on the recommended schedule.

I don’t personally think it’s immunizations. There are other parenting trends that co-relate to the increase. And, I think there must be consideration, too, of the increased awareness of autism and the resultant accurate (or inaccurate) diagnoses.
One parenting trend that I wonder about is back sleeping and the head flattening that occurs with some babies. I would be interesting to learn what the impact is on the neurological development of babies and if this could be connected to the increase neurological disorders. I’m not saying that back sleeping is bad or anything of the sort; i just wonder because it does impact some infants’ heads (some not, and some dramatically), and it does co-relate to the same period that we’ve seen an increase in autism. Although, like I said, so do other parenting trends.

In my opinion, vaccines aren’t the only thing that is going on with children and autism. We didn’t “have” autism years ago, because no one really new about it. It is the same as depression or ADD years ago. As people change, so do the things that effect them. Science is constantly looking at things and finding new things that we never new about.
I also think that vaccines are something that sets off a reaction in the body. If you have an understanding on how vaccines work and also how your immune system works, you will understand how everything down to cancer starts and stops in your body. Whenever you add a foreign body into the blood (or any type of barrier), you will have an effect. Immunizations are helpful, but the way that they are done and the amount that is required is horrendous. Lets me ask you all something…..if you were immunized as a child, do you get your booster shots? Alot of them need to be re administered or they aren’t effective…what’s the point? Also, do you know what is in those shots? Formaldyde is used as a cross link for some to the chemicals……would you even put that on your SKIN for any reason?
So …..do they CAUSE autism….probably not. Do they do things to the body to set off the signs and symptoms, yup! As we increase what you inject into a tiny immune system, the mutations show readily. Just as we have been adding growth hormones to our meat, now our children are developing faster and sooner.
To above, thimerosal is still in vaccines (check your flu vaccine), they took it out of a couple because of the pressure behind what has been brought forward.
I’m not pushing my beliefs. I am a nursing student and I can tell you first hand that we all need to question our what is going on in the health care field. It almost all revolves around money here in the states….thanks for reading my rant!
