I'm not sure if I'm autistic but I'm able to notice all the symptoms of autism during my daily life and I was just wondering if having empathy automatically disqualifies you as being autistic. The signs of me being autistic have been around since I was probably a baby, but it has been affecting me even more now that I'm 19 yrs old :/

Just because someone is autistic does not mean that one cannot have empathy. Also, maybe it would help to think of it in terms of “autistic spectrum” instead of simply autistic.

Maybe take an autism-spectrum test like the AQ? Its free here: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/…
Empathy might be impared in autism but I would guess there are degrees of this e.g. a mild case of autism will only have a minor problem empathising.
