A former five-year old boy pupil of mine had temper tantrums when I told him that he could not go home because he refused to return the chess set he scattered on the floor in its proper place. When it is not yet time to go home, he also had a fit when I told him he could not get out of the room even if one of his parents arrived too early to take him home. He also stopped doing any activity whenever this happens and would readily leave the room without my consent. He had this tendency to misbehave in the presence of his parents. He knew I would tell him off when he would play with the water dispenser. He deliberately spilled the water. He also lightly kicked and slapped me behind her mother's back. He yelled at me. He tried to hit me with his I.D. card lace. Also, I noticed he was unable to start any work without my supervision. I had to verbally prompt him to work on every item in his workbook. He also daydreamed in the middle of all written/coloring activities. He had this tendency to guess the answers to most questions just to give an answer. I suspected he has dyslexia because when I asked him to read vowels in a-e-i-o-u order he could read them but when I jumbled them he started guessing. He could also not associate the sounds of the letters with the letters themselves. I also observed he could not control the way he moves his body. He is unable to stand or sit still. I observed him falling from his seat or just by merely standing. One time I gave him a banana and it slipped off the peeling while he was holding it. It slipped not because the banana is slippery but because his hands uncontrollably jerked that made the banana fall to the ground. He also repeatedly complained of having a headache and told me he needed a vacation. He previously attended a preschool but did not finish. His mother suspected he had autism or ADHD but had yet to bring the boy to a developmental pediatrician. I think he also had trouble sleeping at night. He told me when I was investigating why he is not performing well in school. He is not longer my pupil.
DO NOT CLICK IN THE YELLOW BOX?
Why Not?
Our kids are the same age exactly... I'm certain that something is wrong with her child but she will not hear it. I have researched this and it seems like autism. She babies her son but I know it's more to it than that. I'm sure it was hard watching my son hit every milestone on time. When I said something to her about her son, she didn't talk to me for 2 months. I even had literature sent 2 her home (annonymously). Her parents agree w/ me 2. Here are signs...
As a baby he wouldn't make eye contact even when feeding. He never said mama, dada or baba during his 1st year. I thought he was deaf but loud noises startle him.
Now he's 2.5. If you call him, he will stand there and repeat his name but won't come. He just got off the bottle and NO where near potty training. He doesn't play w/ other kids and screams for an hour if anyone but his parents touch him. He doesn't even feed himself finger foods.
How can I make her see these obvious signs and seek help for her son?
These might help

ive posted other q's about this before,my 3 year old son has this thing where he draws in the air with his fingers almost like hes spelling.I started noticing it when he used to do it when he would see the credits move fast on the end of a movie, but now its constant.....he also doesnt converse...he can talk and get his point across, and is learning more and more, but from what ive heard(since hes my first)kids at this age should be talking real well by now, hell be 3 next month.but all other autism symptoms he doesnt show.He makes good eye contact,LOVES playing with others,is very friendly, constantly telling people hi wherever we go,shows emotion, always pretend playing, and he does point thing out to me....
so is it possible for these two thing s to be normal??ive had 2 ppl point out the possibilty of autism, while the rest including his (once a week) day care instructor tell me he shows no signs????
