My son is three and we are in the process of getting a diagnosis for an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
First thing you should do is NOT PANIC. There is such a range on the Autism Spectrum .
I'll direct you to some resources and hope you can find some help. It's difficult to find info on toddlers with an ASD, but the info is out there.
Parentbooks.ca has an entire section on Autism and Aspergershttp://harcourtassessment.com/HaiWeb/Cul...http://www.oasisautism.org/ http://www.neurodiversity.com/diagnostic...
Google Autism toddler, or autism and your local city... You may be surprised by the number of resources available.
Take your child to your doc and request a developmental assessment. Don't take no for an answer, you are your child's only advocate in a system that isn't always easy to maneuver through.
My familiy doc had never heard of ASD in children who were 3, but our local Aspergers/Autism treatment center certainly had.
Reasons to be concerned would include inappropriate social play for the child's age, difficulty making or keeping eye contact, failure to ask questions typical for the child's age group, failure to form sentences in a typical way for your child's age. Anything which includes any sort of developmental delay is worth investigating.
I learned through my daughter's mental illness that the best thing you can do for your child is be proactive and advocate with the professionals you encounter, be they teachers, doctors or therapists.
My son is also hyperlexic (obsession with letters and numbers, with learning to spell words etc)
All children have their own set of struggles and their own set of beautiful traits, and I wouldn't change my son for the world.
Best of luck to you.
my son Jonathon shows some signs of autism he is very moody all the time. sometimes he won't even let you touch him sometimes he screams and carries on like you are killing him when you did nothing wrong with him I have tried everything to fine the answers for what he has my dad says he is just being a kid but I know there is something wrong with him.
I have autism, and i would like to find a girlfriend (not online), but since i have autism, it makes it very difficult, does anyone know any good ways on how to get a girlfriend?
Do i have to befriend her first?
This is a serious question, no meant to be funny. I am really struggling here. And when i get a girlfriend, how should i treat her?
These might help
